(CNN) -- Earth Day may fall later this week, but as far as former NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell and other UFO enthusiasts are concerned, the real story is happening elsewhere. Mitchell, who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission, asserted Monday that extraterrestrial life exists, and that the truth is being concealed by the U.S. and other governments.

He delivered his remarks during an appearance at the National Press Club following the conclusion of the fifth annual X-Conference, a meeting of UFO activists and researchers studying the possibility of alien life forms.

Now it seems to me that "somebody" burned through all of their astronaut money and is looking to make some cash..just goes to show that even astronauts can fall to greed.

Look at it this way:
If there is a species capable of interstellar travel that has contacted earth, they are most likely able to understand our language and notice the coverups. If they choose to do nothing about it, they are morons and not worth our interest.

If they are scouting for life and simply go from planet to planet, they're propably waiting for us to get the tech before contacting us and therefore resources should be aimed at the advancement of technology and not some goddam asshat who is short on cash and wants to become a mediawhore. They didn't destroy us yet so either we're not a threat or they don't wish to destroy in the first place.
