Dr. William Lane Craig

Oh. I see you're an expert.

Compared to you, probably.

I think I do.

You can't demonstrate it, I know you can't, you know you can't, and so does anyone else reading this thread.

You behave as if its true though. See exactly what I'm talking about below .

No, I don't, though.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. All I did was say that it is true that murder is wrong. And you think we need an entire thread to discuss weather or not it is true.

If you knew anything, at all about the philosophy surrounding these topics, you'd realise that you asserting something doesn't make it true. This topic is pretty deep and I doubt you know as much as my pinky finger does about any of it.

Jesus said "I am the Truth", Pilate questioned the existence of truth and condemned Jesus to death.

How do you know that? I'll help you out - you don't.

Do you think it's true that if you are born a male, you can't turn into a woman?

Irrelevant.

Dude you are the one who suggested that this was a good way to test if god exists or not. I ASKED YOU for what you thought was a good example of a testable claim about God. Im not even contesting the results of the test. Personally I dont believe you can ask God to heal someone and expect Him to do it. And I have never made such a claim. I am actually kinda on your side here. I just think the claim AND the test are both kinda stupid. Probably the only reason such a test was ever done was because of stupid TV christian faith healers or something like that.

No, I didn't. I didn't say this was a test to see if God exists or not, I said prayer can be tested, that it has been, and that it fails. At no point have I said that means, or even implies that God doesn't exist.

Your reading comprehension is abysmal to non-existent, and given your weird trollish nonsense in this and several other active threads I just got done reading, I'm becoming more sympathetic to the idea floated by a few others recently. That being, that you are in fact, a troll.

Recently?

Do you think that it is a common sentiment, held by people who say there is no god, that it might not be true that murder is wrong?
Irrelevant.

I was asking you what you think. What you think about things is not irrelevant.

If everyone says Im ruining the forum, then I guess Im ruining the forum. I apologize. Maybe I will try to tone it down or take a break for awhile or something.

It depends largely on the question of at what resolution, in other words at what depth they've thought about it. It is likely true that most atheists, when asked if murder is wrong will reply in the affirmative. However, when you, or if you get a wee bit more "philosophical" about it and start discussing it at the level of meta-ethics things change drastically.
Granted, most people on Earth aren't interested in discussing things at that sort of depth or level, but for those of us who are, we understand these questions are anything but straight forward.

If this thread were about transgenderism, you would be correct, of course it would be relevant. But it's not so it isn't and you aren't.

I don't know about ruining anything, it's just pretty hard to take you seriously around 80% of the time. There are times when you come across as sincere, interested and curious but then you'll say something completely daft and it all goes out the window.
I'm not telling you to do anything, nor am I hinting that I will moderate you (I don't like restricting people's accounts) - it would just be nice if you'd stop making silly assertions, repeating debunked claims and at times being dickish.

Probably the closest I mostly ever get to being philosophical is when I think about unintended consequences. Anyway thanks for your answer.

Im pretty daft in real life also. It think it is important for me to try to remember not be a dick. I just recently joined a conservative forum just so I could make a post about how think it's wrong for my fellow conservatives in the US to equate "supporting the police" with "patriotism" and I got like 20 replys so far from everyone there, telling me I'm a pussy and loser and that I suck the cocks of criminals and I should kill myself and all kinds of shit. So I have to say you guys here on this forum at least deserve credit for always being more respectful than they are. Even towards your opponents, like me. Well done!

Some years ago, My wife started her own little web forum for metal music fans. It's hard for her to talk to people and she really doesnt have any friends. So this person from another web forum who didn't like her for some reason thought it would be cool to get people from this other web forum to join my wifes forum under different names and pretend to be friends with her. So she trusted them and they ended up playing some mean tricks on her and ruined her whole forum so she had to shut it down. She tried to pretend that she didnt care but I know it really hurt her.

You never really know what another person is going through or what kind of day they are having, especially when you are online. So it's always good when people try to remind other people to be less of a dick.

I am in your debt.

Yeah I'm not suggesting getting overly invested in philosophy, I think that can be a mistake. The amount of stupid shit I've heard PHD's say is fucking mindblowing.
I think there's a happy middle ground to be had between fuck philosophy and let's be ultra super duper philosophical at all times.
If you're interested, I suppose the Euthyphro dilemma is as good a place to start as any. You might even find that one interesting.

Most of the regulars here are pretty damn cordial most of the time to be fair. You could find examples where I haven't lived up to that standard, but normally I'm happy to just talk about whatever as long as it interests me. If it doesn't, I just don't post.

Tell her to start it up again and make me a mod ;)
