Doom metal

Here are a few favourites of mine:

Bongripper
Buried at Sea
Electric Wizard
Burning Witch
Khanate
Mare
Moss
Rwake
Sleep
Ufomammut
Sunn O))) - these are probably better described as drone, they're at the far end of the spectrum really. If you like it try some "Earth" too.
Jesu - not sure if it's doom but it's close :)
Knut - They have some doom tracks, some not so doom.
Pelican - Again I wouldn't call it doom, but they have some epic tracks that fit the mood.

Also do give DogKickedinHalf a listen, they're a local band from here in Manchester and mates of mine. http://dogkickedinhalf.bandcamp.com/

I would recommend St. Vitus' s first album
