Do not disrespect family or friends of members

arg-fallbackName="Sparhafoc"/>

I hope your mother is suffering and dies horribly.

Just in case anyone happened to miss John revealing a little more about the motivations for his presence here.

John is on holiday for 7 days as of about 10 seconds ago.

It's not zero tolerance when you've tolerated a dozen instances of it.
*SD* is giving warnings/infractions for the behavior and John is going up in points real fast 10 points and its a ban for x days. But i’m not going to tolerate disrespecting family members that has nothing to do with the discussions.

My suggestion if you want to make the forum focus on substantive discussion, would be to have an actual zero tolerance policy when obvious trolls are clearly here just to troll. It never works out for the betterment of anything to keep giving them further chances. Make it policy, make everyone stick to it, hand out warnings for those who occasionally go overboard but who can generally be expected to engage with good faith - but someone like John: do you expect him to come back after 7 days and act differently?

That was fast @*SD* and its solved @Sparhafoc. If he does it again by saying stuff about our mother or any family member its now a 7 day ban straight away no more warnings.

Ok, and I appreciate this isn't really the right place to have this back and forth, but I still wonder whether that's a good way of resolving this if I or others have to experience having someone wish their mother suffering and dying every 7 days.

We want to give everyone change and choice by first trying to adjust their behavior.

Well until i get fed up and that does not take long these days he will get a vacation that will last indefinitely.

Yes, we have the warning system which operates on a "totting up" process, too many warnings within a certain time frame and the account starts to become affected. If the warnings fall on deaf ears, as they clearly have been in certain cases, manual ban (temp). If, upon return the behaviour doesn't change for the better, then it'll be perm ban.

Greetings,

I have to say that "feeding the troll" doesn't help.

I generally ignore extraneous posts and focus on the (last) significant ones in a thread - one of the reasons why I asked about a quick way to find them.

I think that if, having been ignored, a poster repeats their extraneous post - as if to get a rise = that's when to take action.

Slightly related/off-topic: is the "Ridiculous Gun Laws" going to be unlocked?

Kindest regards,

James

You are right feeding the troll does not help at all, if someone does something thats against rules or disrespectful just report the post.

i will open the thread for now.

Greetings,

Just one more thing...

It might help if, when someone is suspended and/or banned (expelled), the Mods included a post in the appropriate thread to explain what's happened and why.

That way the offender and all other viewers will know.

Kindest regards,

James

No issues with doing that, we generally do do that anyway, but if there are instances where this hasn't happened we can make efforts to remember to do that.
