Discussion on the most notorious section of the U.S constitution

Considering the violent crime rate has tripled currently compared to pre corona you would be nuts not to arm up.
Care to tell us where you live and if you have a source for this? I am a bit skeptical of this statement.

I have lived in some very violent places in the US and their violent crime rates per year have mostly been lower since I left.

Mexico is a whole other story. Their judicial system and police force are far too corrupt to for you to use it to prove your point.
I thought the argument was:
Number of guns/gun control reduces gun crime. At no point do people typically argue that. More often they argue 1st world countries and gun control and reduction of firearms.

Why would I dox myself specifically? Look up cities and locales specifically in the U.S. there are sharp increases in violent crime depending on the city.

I live in Bangkok.

Oh no! I've just DOXed myself! I'm going to have to change my phone number, address, and haircut so you can't all work out who I am... or something.

I'd like to note quickly that I appreciate how quickly LZ is honing his skepticism. It pays to question before letting confabulated information into one's brain case.

@BoganUSAFFLClerk This is the only self defense technique against knife attacks you need to know:

Btw. nothing wrong with you wearing body armor if that makes you feel safe, up to you how you spend your money. Problem is, if you arm yourself with a gun for whatever reason, you become a deadly threat to me. Having you prove that you are a responsible, reasonable person and that you received adequate training in both, handling and safely storing your firearm, is not a big ask now, is it? Sure, its a hassle, but so is getting your drivers license.

And maybe, just maybe, forget about "having a right to own a gun" and rather view it as a priviledge.

Btw. atheists arguing that a document from roughly 300 years ago is holy, is hilarious. Especially considering that the US was founded as a secular country. But hey, maybe thats just me.

Greetings,

Although the overall crime rate went down during CoViD-19, violent crime - homicides and domestic abuse - appear to have increased, possibly due to the lockdown placing people in confined spaces with nowhere to let off increased tensions. [Source]

Kindest regards,

James

@Dragan Glas Yeah, people are stressed and terrified ... or angry, depending on what news channel they watched while stuck at home.
But its much much worse than that. Many people have lost their jobs and homes or are about to, nevermind crippling amounts of debt. They have no money to feed themself and the US government is doing fuck all to help them.
No social safety net, no medical care .. a needlessly punitive judical system and the permanent threat of going to jail if you do not pay a 50 bucks fine .. yeah .. its a powder keg. And readily avaible guns are not helping.

Still, I doubt gun control would help much with that, thats for stopping mass shootings.

I do not believe you live somewhere in the US where the violent crime rate is now 3x higher than it was before Covid19, unless you live in an area where the violent crime rate is very very low.
Keep in mind our city in particular sees a lot of transplants from California and Chicago. I myself is originally from California 10 years ago.

Stop being a cocksucker and just argue the point.

Vast majority of those using defense against a knife take defensive wounds, The severity of said wounds vary but I don't think I want to purposefully get within reach trying to use a technique that looks nice and pretty in a controlled environment and most likely doesn't as intended. To me this is chorography not useful training.

I am only a deadly threat if I choose to be a deadly threat end of argument. That is the legal and moral argument. The only reason people aren't me are safe from me is because I choose not to attack them. I definitely have the ability to be a serious threat and conversely haven't attacked them or even committed a crime. Why? Because I choose to. I can choose to stop that any time but so far so good. Also we are the among the 21 states that have permitless carry. So there will be no requirement for training to carry a handgun into public. A driver's license isn't an individual right a firearm is. Also driving is a nickle and diming of costs and frankly the cost to legally drive is disgusting. A couple hundreds dollars for insurance, Registration is a percentage of the value of your car, the license itself is tedious to get and doesn't reward merit etc. I refuse to let guns be treated like vehicles the DMV is obnoxious and one of the most corrupt and incompetent government institutions I have the displeasure of working with.

That won't happen and the states seem to agree.

No ashiest is arguing the document is holy or God granted. That would be gun owners of the holy persuasion. If they were atheist's then they argue gun rights come as natural rights i.e. NOT from God.

Well actually the general murder rate is down as is the gun homicide rate in my city. It is exactly the opposite of what you think. The violent crime rate tripling has more to do with assaults, robbery and rape. Last time I checked we don't sell rape kits.

There were about 39m NICs transactions last year and we are projected to beat that record for 2021 thanks to Biden. This means a minimum of 1 gun transferred through an FFL. These numbers to not reflect private sales which are majority allowed in states. Those reflect roughly 40% if you trust anything the news has to say.

Obviously I can automatically disprove that number of guns and gun crimes are proportional which is verifiably false.

Also you can't really do anything about firearms already in circulation as it would take multiple federal laws to be struck down simply to know who has what and even then would likely get struck down on a Constitutional basis as establishing a searchable gun database aka registry is FEDERALLY prohibited under the GCA of 1968 (Reagan).

I haz assertion

What's your support for that assertion?

Look - I made an assertion, don't you see it? It's right there: the assertion. Support? Go Google! I don't have to support my declarations, the act of writing them has made them true.

Key word: "SPECIFICALLY".

Key word ABSENT, evasion protocols enabled.

LOOK OVER THERE!!!

Maybe .. watch the video first, then comment on it.

I am only a deadly threat if I choose to be a deadly threat end of argument.
You do understand why I do not just take your word for it? My life is at stake, I need more than your word. Also, you are a deadly threat just by carrying a gun around, even if you do not want to harm anyone. You can always have a psychotic episode, get intoxicated and lose your reason thanks to that or trip and accidentally discharge your gun.
Nevermind that we all got a bad day making us feel suicidal or homicidal every now and then.

Also we are the among the 21 states that have permitless carry. So there will be no requirement for training to carry a handgun into public.
And you do not think thats a problem? We are talking deadly weapons here and not toys, there is a bare minimum of responsibility that comes with owning something like that.
And interesting enough, toys are actually regulated more heavily than guns in those 21 states.

A driver's license isn't an individual right a firearm is. Also driving is a nickle and diming of costs and frankly the cost to legally drive is disgusting. If your problem is the DMV .. then let the NRA handle it, or the military. Who better to give you training in handling a gun and how to store it safely?

No ashiest is arguing the document is holy or God granted. That would be gun owners of the holy persuasion. If they were atheist's then they argue gun rights come as natural rights i.e. NOT from God.
Holy just means "unchangable, untouchable". The problem is the belief that the constitution can not be changed or rather, people arguing it can not be, based on their preferences. Of course it can. Also .. a gun as a natural right is a bit ... out there.

Well actually the general murder rate is down as is the gun homicide rate in my city. It is exactly the opposite of what you think. The violent crime rate tripling has more to do with assaults, robbery and rape. Last time I checked we don't sell rape kits.
Uhm yeah, assaults and robberies going up is exactly what you would expect, when people are broke, laden with debt and homeless.
Would happen with or without guns.
No clue why people would get rapey though, maybe its the stress.

Obviously I can automatically disprove that number of guns and gun crimes are proportional which is verifiably false.
No one made that claim. Oh and btw. one of the safest Nations on earth, Switzerland, is also the most heavily armed nation in Europe. No mass shootings, barely any violent crime ... all thanks to proper social policies, government assistance, proper drug laws and draconian gun control.
You see, in Switzerland military service is mandatory and everyone gets a rifle for that and gets to keep it afterwards.

Australia actually managed to solve all of that. But you dont have to go as far as the Ausssies did, it would already be a great first step to stop selling guns to ... everyone. Give it a generation afterwards and see how that goes, then take additional steps.
And laws and regulations can be changed ... you know, thats kinda the job of the government. The only thing that matters is what society wants and thats overwhelmingly more regulations for firearms.

70% of American adults supported stricter gun laws, according to a CNN poll with a margin of error of +/- 3.7%. 75% of American adults supported stricter gun laws, according to an NPR/Ipsos poll with a margin of error of +/- 3.5%

Will it help? Definitely. Will it be a "silver bullet"? No way in hell. There is so much more broken in the US, than just the gun laws and constitution, creating desperate people fighting for their life left and right.

Speaking of the constitution ... that needs to be looked over and updated anyways, not just the 2nd amendment, but also the 13th. Nevermind that they could cut the 2 that deal with prohibition completly by now.
