http://www.newegg.com/ - The place to go if you want to buy parts: good prices and a nearly perfect "no questions asked" return policy.

http://www.tomshardware.com/ - Everything you might ever want to know about the latest technology, building your own computer, security, etc. Plus it has its own forum.

http://improbablejoe.blogspot.com/ - ImprobableJoe's blog. Allegedly has some useful information. Plus, you know, it's his blog. So you should read it.

http://www.dell.com/ - Of questionable usefulness as a place to buy a computer. Is not terribly overpriced as far as I can tell, but no longer lets you truely customize either (their interface allows you add features, but not to remove unessisary ones; frustrating if you don't need a new monitor, for instance.) Still, you might catch something on sale; so worth a once over.

Any of the major manufacturers are worth looking at for PCs, but with them you get... what you get. Usually not much room for expansion, and substandard parts like power supplies hasten the time when they will break down. On the plus side you know everything is compatible, and the warranty is easier to deal with if you only have to track down one company.
