Hi,

I guess this is my introduction.

- I am an atheist
- I am a Satanist (and no, those two do not contradict themselves)
- I am a skeptic and do not believe in anything spiritual, only the carnal.
- I am a white male (muh patriarchy!)

As far as things which may be relevant to this forum go:

I never believed in "god" even though I was sent to a catholic primary and secondary school, around grade 6 when I found out that it wasn't just some story people followed for some reason and that people actually believed that, I was like "man, this is crazy how in the hell can people believe such obvious nonsense!?".

I didn't hear about any of the famous atheists such as RD and Aaron Ra or Christian Rad etc out there till 2011, when I was 14, I am 19 now almost 20.

I obviously cannot relate to those who were formerly religious, or I should better say "Theistic" since, I am religious myself.

I do however feel very frustrate how belief in god is seen so normal and even, assumed.

I like gaming, porn, history, philosophy, computers and guns (I'm a gun-nut)/

I sometimes have arguments with my parents over things like homoeopathy, alternative medicine and spirits and energies.

I hope that suffices as an intro.

P.S: I'm a huge Marilyn Manson fan, I've met him and have a picture with him, my dream is to find this vintage t-shirt and buy it! http://www.nachtkabarett.com/marilynmansonshirtspostersandmerchandise#BewareOfGod

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to LoR ;)
- I am an atheist

The only sensible position on gods, in my view.
- I am a Satanist (and no, those two do not contradict themselves)

I don't really understand why one would define themselves by contrast with a dominant faith while using its tropes, or rather, why Satanists as a group exist. Could you expand on that a little?
- I am a skeptic and do not believe in anything spiritual, only the carnal.

I don't understand this sentence at all...
- I am a white male (muh patriarchy!)

Well, there are rather a lot of us :D

I never have either, although the mechanics of it interest me.
I didn't hear about any of the famous atheists such as RD and Aaron Ra or Christian Rad etc out there till 2011, when I was 14, I am 19 now almost 20.

I barely know who they are today, and then mostly by proxy... I have a lot of respect for AronRa personally, though.
I obviously cannot relate to those who were formerly religious, or I should better say "Theistic" since, I am religious myself.

It's not obvious to me; could you elaborate?
I do however feel very frustrate how belief in god is seen so normal and even, assumed.

Well, I can understand the frustration, but if you accept that almost everyone does believe in one or another god, it's easier to overcome, I reckon.
I like gaming

Old or new school?

Male stereotype, then (I kid!)

Anything in particular?
philosophy

Which do you subscribe to (or have greater affinity with)? I'm something of an absurdist.
computers

Do you *nix?
and guns (I'm a gun-nut)/

Oh... :(
I sometimes have arguments with my parents over things like homoeopathy, alternative medicine and spirits and energies.

Some people replace woo with new woo.

I hope that suffices as an intro.[/color]

And I hope you enjoy the forum :)

- Satanism and Carnality.

Ok so basically, to me anything spiritual is a pipe-dream or to be more blunt, fucking bullshit.

Also, Satanism is it's own religion while it is atheistic.

Here' s a short free documentary:

I got 1:16 minutes into the vid, then I got bored. I never did get Satanism as a religion, even if the character is allegorical. Then again, no one in this forum gets my Deism either, so to each their own. :)

Sure, but that doesn't really address my question.

I may have been a little ambiguous there. I'm familiar with it, I just don't understand it. Was hoping for some insight :)

Thanks. Earnestly, I prefer people explain their perspectives rather than me consuming prepared products.
Not that you have to, of course. I'm just interested the topic.

what about the sentence do you not understand than? I'd think it's pretty straight forward...

With regards to Satanism, my question was, loosely: why does Satanism exist? Particularly given that you're also an atheist, what's the point?

The sentence that confuses me ("I am a skeptic and do not believe in anything spiritual, only the carnal"), does so because I don't see how scepticism relates to belief in fucking (or eating or whatever gluttonous primal thing it euphemises), nor what having a belief in the carnal, as you put it, actually means.

Carnal is anything that it is not spiritual, not just sex and bodily things,

Satanism is a religion and religion usually implies spirituality of some sort, does it not?

Erm... carnal means "of the flesh". It comes from the Latin for "flesh". But anyway, I also noted that it may be a euphemism for whatever else. That doesn't adequately explain what a belief in "the not spiritual" means. No sweat if you can't, I'm not trying to provoke.

No, not always.

one of Satanism's central tenants is "Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual-pipe dreams". So no, it doesn't imply spirituality, it in fact, rejects it.

Thank you for clarifying. :)
