Amen brotha!

Every once in awhile you find a member of the theist camp and you think "man, if they were all like this we could probably all get along"

I won't give you an amen, but I will give you a HELL YA......
I just used AMEN cuz that's what all those preacher types shout out after they say something you're supposed to agree with.
so I looked it up, cuz I didn't know (maybe knew at one time but had forgotten)

it is so; so be it (used after a prayer, creed, or other formal statement to express solemn ratification or agreement).

"...do you want to go against constitutional history?".

"MMMMMMMM."

Theists certainly do have a way of delivering messages with more than just words. :)

Damnit damnit
RALEIGH, N.C. , North Carolina approved a constitutional amendment Tuesday defining marriage solely as a union between a man and a woman, becoming the latest state to effectively slam the door shut on same-sex marriages.
Oh and this
I think it sends a message to the rest of the country that marriage is between one man and one woman," Fitzgerald said at a celebration Tuesday night. "The whole point is simply that you don't rewrite the nature of God's design based on the demands of a group of adults."

Hi SuedeStonn, and welcome to the forum.

I just wanted to quote your post here to make sure everyone sees it, since it got kinda drowned by others posts while yours was pending approval.

Enjoy your stay! :)

Oh thanks Gnug, I totally missed that post.
Hiya Suedestonn, welcome

This almost makes me want to get a divorce as a protest, just so I don't follow the ideals that marriage means one man one woman only.

I'm still very shocked that apparently sane rational humans, can think banning gay marriage and basically screwing with the US constitution is a step in the right direction.

A friend posted this on facebook today, she lives in N Carolina unfortunately.

Seemed appropriate.

Okay so now Obama has caved in to a lot of pressure (I'm sure that what happened in NC turned up the heat) and finally admitted that he supports gay marriage. Apparently his evolution is complete and has now ascended into the great pinnacle that is being a reasonable fucking human being on this issue.

Alright...alright...I'll quit being so hard on him on this. I give credit to Obama for being the first president to support gay marriage.

Yes, I watched a clip of that, and I thought well, that took some balls come out and say that.
A true leader though, wouldn't have been against it from the onset.
He's just following what he thinks the will of the people are.
Although I suppose that's better than nothing.
This has been a crazy year with all this kinda stuff.... birth control, gay marriage, abortion.... etc
Maybe I've been living under a rock for the past few years but for me it all seemed to erupt as a hateful ball over the past few months to the point that I barely recognise the world any more.

Nope. Obama just saw the latest poll numbers that show that 52% of adult citizens are for gay marriage and equal rights and realized that 52% is more than 48%. It's an election tactic.

All in all Obama has been a dispointment for us foreigners and for a lot og the more liberal democrats too judging from the press I've seen from there. The only reason he has a chance for a 2nd term is that most democrats would still rather have him as a weak souce president than a strong relublican, book or Mormon banging, theocrat.

Hey gui, you're preaching to the quire. Pls don encourage me right nao. Imagine the credit I gave to Obumm... Obama with a pained faked smile on my face.

Either way, those poll numbers have been there for a while and it still never gave him the balls to come out in support of it before. The here say I've gotten is that a lot of people (including his own family) have been pushing him to come out already...funny choice of words. What happened in NC and the fact that VP Joe Bidden pretty much voiced support in an interview prior must have overwhelmed Obama's reluctance.

I'm not trying to say that Obama is not genuin in his support for gay marriage right, I'm just saying that the timing is surely politically motivated. At that level of goverment it just about has to be. Bidens support of the issue was probably a test. If he got support for his oppinion it'd show that there might be a political gain in Obama supporting it, if the reaction for it was more negative West Wing could explain it as Bidens personal opinion which is not connected to the official presidential position. After all Bidens main job is getting Obama a second term.

I hope Obama gets a second term. Maybe he'll even grow a pair and stop making "compromises" (or as I like to call it, "giving things to republicans without getting anything in return") and fight for things he says he wants.

The Democratic Party nominating convention is in North Carolina this year. Obama dropped the ball on supporting marriage equality in N.C. and the labor unions are already less-than-enthusiastic about having the convention in an anti-union state. He's been able to barely keep the unions from protesting, but if the LGBT groups started making too much noise it could have snowballed into protests that would have likely included the unions as well. So Obama made the tactical decision to not actually help gay people while taking credit for being an ally of gay people.

It is savvy political strategy, because it keeps the money rolling in from the rich white northern phony liberals who love the gays as an abstract but don't care if anything is done, and he doesn't piss off the southern business owners who don't want to ever extend expensive employee benefits to gay families.
