Books for skeptics and free thinkers.

I cant find a list on these forums of books specifically related to free thinking, empiricism and skepticism. We could do a poll after we have a lot of entries and rank the books. I wouldn't expect much fiction here, but I could understand if the novel had a lot of influence in this subject such as 1984 by George Orwell. I will start by recommending a few obvious ones to get the ball rolling. I will add your recommendations to my list as the thread grows,
