Bob Enyart, notorious antivax YEC and hydroplate fanboy, dies of COVID-19

Bob Enyart, a notorious YEC proponent of the hydroplate theory, a fanatical antivax/antimask COVID denier, and a bigot who would literally play Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" while reading obituaries of AIDS victims, died of COVID-19 complications. The Friendly Atheist covers this, noting just how deep in the conspiracy theories Enyart was in their post on the matter. This guy was a jerk and I've long since lost any sympathy for people who die of COVID-19 when theyre the ones actively peddling the conspiracies. AronRa once had an excellent debate with Enyart in 2011 which first showed me how slippery this dude was. I would sometimes check in on his website over the years. Way back when in 2015, I called him out on RationalSkepticism for blatantly fabricating quotes from several papers to claim that dinosaurs had young, endogenous amino acids in their remains. Other things of his I source checked were almost always just as bad.

I'm sure Walt Brown will miss Bob's peddling of his hydroplate nonsense. Hopefully this convinces much of Enyart's congregation to take COVID seriously and get vaccinated.

I'm not convinced his death will change the attitudes of his congregation. It's pretty sad how many people who have bought into the type of nonsense Bob and his ilk have been peddling about Covid will remain convinced right up to the end that Covid is a hoax etc. etc.

Inappropriate Behavior
This one was worth logging in for.

@Mr_Wilford Don't know if you knew this, but Bob was briefly a member at Ratskep as well back in 2014.

Anyhoo, thanks for this. I just posted in the Good Riddance thread.

Yes, I've read the Bob vs Aron thread many times, and listened to the radio exchange just as many.

Here's the audio for anyone who would like to listen -

If this thread is to remain open for posting, then participants are required to remain civil and respectful. It's fine if you disagree with Bob Enyart's views, and you're welcome to state as much, but this forum doesn't exist for gleeful revelling in the passing of others.

I've posted the audio of the debate between Aron and Bob Enyart above, and HWIN has linked to the written exchange. Check them out at your leisure, in the meantime let's keep it chilled please.

Before he passed, I hope he realized that he was wrong about everything he thought he knew.

I don't think Bob Enyart was actually an anti-vaxxer. He did say that he would refuse the COVID-19 vax because it was unclear if the tissue of aborted babies were used to produce these vaccines. He also was not a "Covid denier". He knew Covid was real but he questioned whether our response to the virus was actually doing more harm than the actual virus itself.

I think that when a person is in actual fear of dying, his only thoughts are of how much he wished his life was harder. You regret every comfort you have taken for yourself in life and wish you had instead strived harder for the little moments that the people you loved wanted to have with you.

Alas, that is not how cultists behave. The more evidence against their beliefs, the stronger their beliefs.
I tried to defend Aron Ra in Youtube posts and other forums when I know people were talking bullshit about him and I even promote some of his ideas that I like, even though he is my enemy.

I have actually learned to not automatically hate people for their ideas, because of this very forum. We are all brothers and I would not be happy at all if Aron Ra or if any of us died for any reason. I think the world kinda tricks us into being enemies, when we should not be.

Bob Enyart did help me when I was young and always getting into trouble. And I can tell you his concern for me was genuine. I know about people Aron Ra has helped also and he never once even mentions it.

I'm sure Bob Enyart would understand if you all thought he was a jerk. But he was not a "Covid Denier" or an anti vaxxer. It makes you all look like idiots when you say this.

He never told anyone not to get a vaccine and he was the first talk show host in the US to have a real molecular biologist on his show to affirm the danger of covid-19.

Please let us not misrepresent each other when we die. We are all brothers.

Thank you for "defending" Aron Ra when he has been unfairly been attacked. This is always a positive personality train, and I wish we could have more people doing this.

But, good gods. Why in the world do you consider Aron Ra your "enemy?" The rare times I have seen, read, or heard Aron Ra make a mistake he promptly corrected himself. He has yet to state, write, or say anything false deliberately based on my study of the issues he discourses upon.

Aron Ra has caused me to wince a few times, such as when he pointed out (correctly) that humans are "still fish" cladistically. My discomfort does not make me want to have him not say such things: the facts must be stated.

As for Mr. Bob Enyart, he pushed the anti-vaccination bullshit: therefore he is *NOT* my "brother." I consider it likely that his mouth has killed stupid people who believed him. He was also a professional liar. I am glad for his sake that Hell does not exist. I have infinite compassion for his living victims. He harmed people for money. Speaking communally, the best thing he ever did in his life was to die.

For bizarre political reasons he kept calling conservatives such as President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and President Biden "the left." This shows that he was uninformed and/or spewed lies.

Because ideas have consequences.

I apologize, but that makes no sense at all to me. Are you saying your ideas makes you believe you must make enemies of decent, kind, compassionate, ethical, moral people like Aron Ra? I assume I must not understand. The best members of society I consider my friends.

Of course Atheists are the enemies of Christianity! What fucking planet do you live on! Is it another imaginary planet that exists only in your mind?? How long do you think it will be until all of Europe ends up like China? Never?

This is a bit like saying "Of course globe Earthers are the enemy of Flat Earthers!!!"

Yeah, descriptively true, but only a problem if you object to bullshit being countered.

If there is no God, then Atheists should be the enemies of Christians. Shouldn't they? I would be..

Not necessarily, people are allowed to believe whatever stupid crap they want in most cases. I don't care if you believe in stupid crap, and for the most part no one else does either, people will usually only start caring if your actions because of your beliefs in stupid crap are affecting them or others. Sitting around quietly believing in stupid crap will rarely harm anyone but your self.

Right well believing that you shouldn't cook hotdogs in boiling water, wont really affect anybody. But the belief that there is or is not a creator god, will. There are obviously countless ideas we can both think of, that would affect society in a major way, if they became common.
