And Suddenly the Medical Pot God exists!

No human in this world deserve respect automaticly! No king, no god... nothing but the "pot" also called "weed"!
In USA and Mexico, the war against drugs has become LESS efficient than anything; see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_on_Drugs
The efficency is my best argument in FAVOR of legalizing drugs.

Some lefties, consider the Pot as a new god, since the "medical pot" cannot be challenged by evidence! Now the "big pharma" is the main "enemy" against the "Medical Pot God".

C0nc0rdance made a video on "Big Pharma" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPiWJACTmUY

Glaucoma:
These is the statement of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society about Medical Pot and Glaucoma

Cancer:

Anti-emetic effect due chemotherapy of oral cannabis

Probably increase in the incidence of testicular cancer due Cannabis

Death
Does Marijuana increases risk of death?
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20565525

The clinical evidence about the uses of cannabis is NOT limited because the BIG PHARMA want to hide the mysterious and powerfull effects of pot: Marijuana is ILLEGAL and all clinical research in areas where it is forbidden is obviously banned see: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20920073

Without such clinical evidence the medical pot is as effective as any other alternative medicine; see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_medicine

Should we call pot a medicine or a recreational drug?

We've kinda had this discussion before in quite a few formats, but I'll restate my opinion.

Cannabis has shown medicinal potential, I feel that this is an area which should be researched so that drugs can be synthesised which lack the side effects of cannabis use.
In terms of recreation, many studies have linked cannabis use to psychosis and anxiety - especially in teenagers. Others have also linked the use of cannabis to social issues. To quote myself "bleach may taste nice, but I'm not going to drink it"

With these links known, I feel that the drug should be investigated further and at current should not be endorsed by the government via legality. The only way I could see it being legalised is if it turned out to be completely harmless, yet studies suggest the opposite.

If Portugal comes up, I have this quote:
Time Magazine said:
Peter Reuter, a professor of criminology and public policy at the University of Maryland, like Kleiman, is skeptical. He conceded in a presentation at the Cato Institute that "it's fair to say that decriminalization in Portugal has met its central goal. Drug use did not rise." However, he notes that Portugal is a small country and that the cyclical nature of drug epidemics , which tends to occur no matter what policies are in place , may account for the declines in heroin use and deaths.

We had a confusing chat on this briefly earlier, but that said, this topic somewhat ties into this one. That said, everything in proportion...

MRaverz, I would like to see the evidence from these studies. Understand, I've been raised with the idea that butter has nasty saturated fats that will heart attack me, and margarine will give me cancer, but starchy bread is bad for you too. It's bound to produce some cynicism.

What I don't understand is why no one has looked into the active ingredients which have medical application in pot and tried to synthesize them.

Good question....

There has been research on the benefits of LSD and "Magic Mushrooms" (Psilocybin) on cluster headaches and the like, and a few years ago my doctor prescribed me a migraine medicine derived from Psilocybin, but without the extra effects (except a lot of sleepy). It worked fabulously though.

I haven't seen the like for cannabis.

There is synthetic THC but it has been known to make users feel sick.

So far the best way to use medical marijuana is with a vaporizer. It reduces or eliminates nearly all of the negative issues with the drug.

Even then, billions of people have smoked pot over the centuries and the negative side effects are negligible. You could argue coffee is more harmful in the long run.

I've heard the 'pot causes anxiety and what not' in teens argument before, but I've never actually witnessed it outside of a laboratory report. I chalk it up to one of those facts that may be technically accurate but realistically a non-factor.

Actually pot is less effective at treating glaucoma then one might think. It's potent, and lacks some of the nasty side-effects of beta-blockers, but doesn't last very long. You'd have to take it frequently to achieve the desired effect; including getting up several times at night.

Not to be a downer or anything.
