Whats that about? Are we being monitored by the Vatican?

It's not uncommon on this forum. I think that someone once said that some of the "guests" are actually bots but I don't know how many..

Even when I initially joined, it was a slow server. There's a handful of dedicated posters with busy lives. On occasion, the place is used to host a debate, but that also leads to multiple members that only participate for one or two conversations.

"Guests" are inclusive of both, people reading a thread (who aren't registered members) and bots. Not all bots are a problem, there are indexing bots and other useful ones. There will usually be an imbalance between registered users and guests, this is very normal.

It's pretty standard fayre for fora. Here's the current status of another:

ETA: I recall only one forum I was ever a member of that this wasn't the case, but that forum had >80K members, some 5K of whom were very, very active. I don't think the guest count exceeded the member count there at all.

Those were the days...

Indeed, this is a silly thread. Considering a sufficient explanation has been provided by my self and Hakenslash, it is now locked since no further discussion is necessary. Not everything is new thread worthy @21st Demon Lord

Guests can be indexers, bots, rss feed etc as long as they play nice there welcome i think one bot is banned because it was hammering the server.
