“Above Majestic”

My mom likes to watch these “documentaries” of sorts regarding UFOs and conspiracy theories. Some hold some water, but most are kind of… out there. She’s kind of in a rabbit hole, and I’ve learned to just sort of smile and nod after years of this. I don’t have the time or energy to really engage with it, and she’s not in a position where this can do her or anyone else any harm.

Well, today, she watched one on Tubi called “Above Majestic”. Before going to bed, she went off about some age 12 kid discovering that every president the US has had, save 1 (my mom couldn’t remember if the film said specifically who) is a descendant of King John, including the recent presidents such as Barack Obama. My mom believes that is not an accident.

I, on the other hand, am wondering if this is really as significant as it appears. I don’t know that it’s true, but if it is… so what?

I highly doubt the claim that all the presidents have descended from King John. The only way to prove it would be through DNA testing and I bet you couldn't get samples for more than a handful of the presidents. As for the significance, even it were true like you say, who cares, except for our reptilian overlords. :p

Bit skeptical of the King John claim, but in all honesty I wouldn't have a clue.

Alien stuff is interesting, although I don't spend as much time on it as I used to. The movie 'The Fourth Kind' was pretty cool.

Which King John? Is saying "King John" supposed to mean something?

And honestly, claims like this are kind of pointless because of how exponential growth occurs. Depending on how long ago "King John" lived, this could be true, but that would mean because most people alive today are descended from him. Everyone on earth has two parents, four grandparents, and eight great-grandparents. If you keep extrapolating that back in time, one soon surpasses what would have been the human population at that time. Thus, the further back in history a historical figure lived, the more likely it is that many people today are descended from them.

Looking up "King John", I think she might've meant this guy, hard to say.

As for the rest of your post, well... Yeah. I just didn't know what to do with what I was given. I didn't know who "King John" was either. I didn't watch the thing. My mom just came out with the one "big" thing she took away from it, and my mind thought "maybe the League of Reason can figure out what the hell this is about, because I've got enough processing to do that I can't be bothered."
