For me, as much as I also find it disturbing, meningococcal disease (or neisseria meningitidis, the bacteria that causes M.D.) is quite interesting.
Otherwise, the Tyrant Virus from Resident Evil (although fictional) is always interesting...

According to what I've heard, Amnesia is most likely the scariest video game... ever. I haven't been much of a fan of survival horror video games (I'm not even frightened of Fatal Frame, and that's supposed to be ridiculously scary), but for some reason I've fallen in love with this one...

Ah, yes. Unfortunately I have that very problem myself.
Though how does that relate to the misery of mankind? I'm assuming it's one of the primary causes for anxiety or depression, which is indeed globally widespread.
That's an interesting one, considering that individuals dwell in false hope to try and escape from reality, but I think this relates to the fear of the unknown.
Perhaps the 'fear of nothingness'?
Considering that Yahweh has killed over 2 million people overall (according to the Holy Bible), it does makes sense that he would be willing to send people to hell eternally because of his barbaric nature. If Adolf Hitler was God, he would've been more than happy to cast Jews into eternal...
