    We have actually tried a molten sodium reactor. It nearly blew up due to the reactivity of the molten sodium and a blockage in the sodium pipe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_breeder_reactor#USA Other then the general danger of sodium, it does have promise for producing plenty of energy.
