Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitpluto

Re: Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitp Haven't got the time to actually crate visual model but I've put those specs on generic model and flew the mission. With specs I've come up with, I was able to get to Pluto and return in ~7 years. There was only one problem - I...

Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitpluto

Re: Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitp AFAIK it has 10 crew, but that image was for reference only. It has tootoo low ISP to reach Pluto and get back. When I have planning done (mass and dimensions of fuel tanks etc, I can come up with proper visualization mesh for actual...

Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitpluto

Re: Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitp Ok. So I got preliminary data and can start designing a mission. That will be a real heavy spacecraft. Probably something similar to this:

Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitpluto

Re: Tech curently in devlopment that will allow us to visitp VASIMIR is quite good idea. It has good ISP (specific impulse), and provides relatively high thrust. I can investigate few different techniques during this weekend (VASIMIR, Ion drive, Orion-like nuclear pulse drive etc.) Just...

Ring of probes to get better photos

Data from New Horizon currently on route to the Pluto It left earth at relative velocity 16.26 km/s. After slingsot around Jupiter probe gained ~4 km/s It will arrive at Pluto with relative speed of 13.78 km/s Escape velocity of Pluto is 1.229 km/s so let's assume that 1 km/s is averge...

Ring of probes to get better photos

Because stopping at Pluto would need the same amount of fuel to send probe from Earth's orbit to Pluto. That's very expensive. Rocket scientists are using term deltaV (change of velocity) to determine performance of rocket and dV needed to go to Pluto is around 20km/s. Additional 20km/s to stop...

Some space stuff I'm involved in...

Thanks - I've created Navigator rougly after Voyager probes just to check if upper stage of my rocket will be powerfull enough to perform Earth-Jupiter Hohmann transfer. It would be quite stupid to pack on it old Voyager probe, so I've just made new one. Planets are from stock simulator package...

Some space stuff I'm involved in...

Still with developement of ths rocket/shuttle/payloads I don't even have time to do propper mission. Last thing I've done was Jupiter& Saturn fly-by to test upper stage for this rocket and to check if probe has enough delta V to perform powered slinghot.

    Cold Fusion Anyone?

Ok. I've taken a look on that device. They claim fusion of nickel & hydrogen to create copper and produce energy. 1. Fusing something heavier than iron (which is 3 units lighter than nickel) won't produce more energy that has been delivered into system. Maybe that's the reason why stars are...

    Hello.

Hi. I'd take this opportunity and introduce myself a little. I'm interested in spaceflight (mostly virtual but still quite realistic), astrophysics, cosmology, sailing and guitar playing For a living I'm Graphic Designer. I'm from Eastern Europe (fundamental catholic country). Nice to meet...
