If debating subjects is the goal, then posting in the 'News' forum is more than a little counter productive. I crunched some numbers to support that claim. I took data from the 5th pages of the 'News' forum and the 'Science and Math' forum (the forum with the smallest number of replies/topic)...

What do you mean by 'political'? There's a section for that as well...

So replying in the news forum should be locked and all discussions raised by the story should be posted as new threads in other sections? That actually doesn't sound unreasonable. Edit: Sorry, I should explain my inference. A thread posted in this section is likely to raise discussions...

So what differentiates a discussion between the news here and the news in another forum? It must be rather nuanced, no?
