Fundamentalist Youth Pastor Displays Ignorance of Science

Yeh that's basically it... I think

    Axiom S5

S5 apparently only deals in absolutes. When you think about a statement X, it is ultimately either true or false, and if it is false, then it can't possibly be true, so if it can be true then it must be true. In S5, I would not be justified in saying "God possibly necessarily exists" without...

    Axiom S5

Whoops, turns out a minor misreading caused a massive misunderstanding. Possibly true does not imply possibly necessarily true, however possibly necessarily true does imply necessarily true: That which is necessarily true cannot possibly be false That which is possibly false cannot possibly be...

    Axiom S5

My point is that if something is necessarily true, then it is also possibly true. Necessarily true by definition rules out possibly false, and thus possibly true does not imply possibly false. BTW just to let you know, the validity of axiom S5 is almost universally agreed upon by logicians.

    Axiom S5

So if something is necessarily true, it's not possible for it to be true?!

    Axiom S5

Does necessarily true imply possibly true?

    Axiom S5

To elaborate, if statement X is necessarily true, then it is also possibly true, and not possibly false.
  9. G

    Axiom S5

Remember that we are speaking in logical absolutes, not in an epistemological sense. In pure logic, possibly true does not imply possibly false.

    Axiom S5

How are they fallacious? If all that is possibly true is possibly necessarily true, and all that is possibly necessarily true is necessarily true, then all that is possibly true must be necessarily true.
  11. G

    Axiom S5

No, this axiom proves that if something is not necessarily true then it is not logically possible. Sure, it is epistemologically possible that the moon is made out of cheese, but it's not logically possible unless it's necessarily true.

    Axiom S5

    guns in the home

If you do decide to get a gun, I recommend a pump action 12g (20g if your recoil sensitive). If it's only use will be home defense, I would put as short a barrel as legally permissible on it, and consider either a pistol grip or folding/collapsing stock. Here's mine:
