    Makers and Takers

I'm a little confused by the American use of the world "liberal", but as far as I can tell it seems to encompass every one from the center-right and leftwards. So this is a book that attacks everyone who doesn't agree with the authors chosen political party and make them out to be morally...

    FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!

While the consumer is not personally responsible for this perpendicular disaster, you could argue that we are responsible for perpetuating and supporting the system that BP exists in. If we all got off our arses, campaigned for real alternatives to crude oil and actually made an effort in our...

** STICKY ** Post any notable quotes you can find here.

"Remember that you are an Englishman, and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life." - Cecil John Rhodes "There is no kind of dishonesty into which otherwise good people more easily and frequently fall than that of defrauding the government." - Benjamin Franklin "In this world...

    The Hemp Revolution

Industrial Hemp isn't a drug, you can't get high of it. Cannabis used for smoking is good for just about that and nothing else, but industrial Hemp can be used for a huge variety of things. The two plants are related but not the same. Here's the wikipedia page on it...

    FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!

Define "decent human being"! People will happily abandon their morals or the morals of society just to benefit them and theirs; ever heard of criminals? Businesses exist to maximise profit, being a "decent human being" can often come as secondary to that. But I don't see what morals have to do...

    FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!

This guy makes a good point; It's not BP that is the problem, it's the system. BP my have screwed up (or Transocean or whoever) but they, and other oil companies, will always be here to screw up like this. Until the crude oil runs out of coarse, but that could takes decades and by that time...

    Parliament Square.

On the subject of it being impractical, yes it would but they don't own the land; they can't just live there. The law has made it impossible to hold long term protest there, which is fair enough, other people might want to use that land for protests.

    Parliament Square.

Just found this on Wikipedia So the protest probably was illegal, but that is only one side of the issue. I think the real reason why they were evicted was a political one, not for the reasons they claimed, probably just so when the international news crews arrived Parliament would look like...

    Parliament Square.

I thought it was Illegal to protest in Parliament Square, for some crack pot anti-terrorist reason or something. As far as I can see the Police were doing the right thing; people should be allowed to protest there but they were turning the place into a residence; It really is a question of...

    Adolf Hitler was a leftist/Socialist/marxist?

The superiority of the "Anglo-Teutonic" race was an idea that had been growing in Germany for a very long time, I think, from about the 1870's (after the unification of the German nations into the German empire). Maybe a bit of an overstatement, but yes, Hitler was on the right wing of the...

    Adolf Hitler was a leftist/Socialist/marxist?

The mistake people make is thinking that Fascism is a right-wing ideology; it combines both left and right wing ideas. Fascist ideas: Right-wing: -Nationalism -Conservative social values...

Stalin blocked attempts to kill Hitler?

I believe the Western Powers did not seriously consider killing Hitler until the end of the war, as he was thought a greater asset to them alive then dead due to the awful strategic decisions he made.
