Just how hard it is to learn computer programming ?

If you're good at COBOL, you're almost guaranteed to find work that pays well. COBOL isn't taught in schools anywhere anymore, but a lot of legacy systems depend on COBOL, especially in the banking industry. With the old professional retiring, there is an increased demand for programmers who...

UAE committee: One-way trip to Mars prohibited in Islam

http://www.khaleejtimes.com/nation/inside.asp?xfile=/data/nationgeneral/2014/February/nationgeneral_February150.xml&section=nationgeneral I can't help but hope that all other religions will follow suit, making Mars officially a religion-free planet.

    Jonah and the Whale!

What's the point of debunking biblical miracles? Aren't they called "miracles" for a reason? A devout believer can always insist that God has a hand in everything, hence making anything possible. So, how DID all those animals fit in Noah's ark? Dunno, probably the same way Ronald Weasley and...

Muslim woman must remove burka in court, judge insists

Because justice systems should not be subject to whims of supernatural entities. Yeah, and it's also not a big imposition on her to ask her to show her face, just like everyone else.

Muslim woman must remove burka in court, judge insists

Fuck that. Everyone must play by the same rules. No special arrangements on religious grounds for anyone.

"Energy-based" martial art called Empty Force (EFO)

Lampila released some of his school's own footage from the seminar. It seems certain "outtakes" didn't make the final cut. Someone could point out kindly this presumably honest mistake, if comments were enabled for the video.

"Energy-based" martial art called Empty Force (EFO)

There's a school of martial arts in Finland that teaches that any assault can be deflected without even touching the attacker. It's called Empty Force, or EFO for short. The teacher, Jukka Lampila, is a former Aikido black belt and also works as an "energy healer". Videos of their training can...

    Knowledge about religions

From a skeptical point of view, ignorance is just as a good a position as any other. You can still ask the proponent of a certain belief to present evidence or construct arguments for their claims.

    Anonymity - Good or Bad?

Good thing or bad, it's here to stay. Communicating anonymously keeps getting easier and easier, and any attempts to control, restrict or censor it are becoming increasingly futile, besides being an infringement on our privacy and freedom of information.

    Anonymous vs EDL: Round 1

As much as I dislike the EDL, these kinds of virtual attacks are infringing their freedom of speech. Then again, this is what Anonymous does, so meh. I would have thought, however, that most people would be more outraged by the actual murder than by a bunch of people shouting hateful slogans.

Pope denounces "greed looking for easy gain"

One of the best ways to reduce poverty, inequality and the problems associated with them around the globe would be to abolish the Catholic church.
